Iris is Doing Great; I’m Still Lookin’

Iris is going on 4 weeks on the job.

She’s learning more and more each day, and becoming a greater part of the team that helps the Durant City Manager’s Office run smoothly.

As for me, I’m crankin’ out resumes like there’s no tomorrow. Along with sending out resumes, I’m taking an online course, the Essentials of HR, created by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM,) a professional organization I joined a month ago. HR is my new career path, if I can just break in.

That’s it for now.

  1. Les,

Hi there! How’s life? There’s indeed hope ahead and right now I’m trying to prepare for it. Like you I’m now unemployed for 3+ mos. already but I’m busy with school – I’m now taking MBA. Let’s just enjoy life while we’ve got nothing but lots of day off. OK?

    Best regards,
    Cris

    • I’m with you, Cris. I am also furthering my education, taking courses in Human Resources, adding to my BS degree in Management and an Associate degree in Network Administration! We’ll take life as it comes. I’m also sending out resumes and applications. For fun in the sun I have bought myself a 2006 Honda Rebel! You KNOW I’m having fun with it. I took the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) Basic Rider’s Course before getting it. Are you still riding? I know you’re busy with family. Check out my Honda at:

  2. Okay,
The unemployment statistics didn’t grow any larger this month here in Oregon. New home sales are up 11%. There’s hope on the horizon.

I’m guessing that it will be a slow uptick, but perhaps attitudes will change and companies will feel that they can start growing again.

    Prayer said, and fingers crossed.
    Good Luck with the class.
